Outside Technical Sales and Quoting Technician

Your experience includes:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience selling Job Shop Machine Shop work including parts, tooling and automation in a manufacturing environment. It is CRITICAL that you have experience in a Job Shop environment
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience quoting/application support for Job Shop Machine Shop work - It is CRITICAL that you have experience in a Job Shop environment
  • Experience in various CNC machining methods and manufacturing processes - It is CRITICAL that you have experience in a Job Shop environment; experience in the Foundry Industry is a benefit
  • CRM Software experience and strong Microsoft Office /software skills
  • A technical certificate or degree in a manufacturing field or engineering field or equivalent experience
  • BSME/Engineering candidates with related experience and strong people skills will be considered
  • Organized and detail oriented including strong documentation and oral communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Analytical, organizational, communication, follow up and people skills
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task while working under tight deadlines

About your new job

As an Outside Technical Sales and Quoting Technician at ATS you will be a member of our sales team responsible for executing the sales plan. In this position, you will:

Develop and maintain an organized and proactive sales environment

  • Present a professional image that aligns with company and customer expectations
  • Build and grow relationships with customers and target customers focusing on forming key relationships and working with multiple departments and people in each organization
  • Manage the profitability of assigned accounts
  • Work with the inside sales team, engineering and management
  • Develop and maintain a proactive calendar that meets customer and company needs focusing actions to meet established goal
  • Utilize communication tools to maintain contact with customers and company personnel
  • Proactively complete and update documentation
    • Sales plans
    • Expense reports
    • Quote log
    • Follow-up requirements
    • Call reports

Assist with quoting work

  • Understand requirements of the work and be capable of quoting material and labor needs in the department
  • Understand and define the routings required as work flows through the machine shop
  • Capable of preparing clear and detailed quotes

Execute the sales plan

  • Understand the company and individual sales plans and goals
  • Assist with creating and continue to refine and build the target customer list focusing sales efforts on these targets
  • Travel throughout the region and the United States as required to proactively maintain your customers and target customer contact
  • Forecast sales expectations
  • Call on customers and targets
  • Documents customer contact and needs
  • Identify opportunities
  • Present quotations and proposals to the customers
  • Close sales and prepare order documentation

Assist with Routing orders through the system

  • Prepare the routings for the work when orders are received
  • Work with scheduling to verify orders are in the system and required dates are going to be met
